For this project, I recreated the idea of the flying carpet in real life, turning a mythical object from the story into a physical design piece. Instead of magic words, the carpet carries a simple message: North Africa pointing back to the geography behind the legend. Somewhere between folklore, cinema prop, and design object.
This piece takes direct inspiration from the story of Aladdin. In the original tale from One Thousand and One Nights, the magician who manipulates Aladdin’s journey is described as coming from North Africa.
